Budget Friendly Wedding Locations

22 Jul

Wedding locations are becoming more and more creative especially seeming no one has money for those overly extravagant venues with the castle details and the over-priced entrees. Seriously,  expensive can Stuffed Chicken get?  Here are a few ideas to get your outside the box juices flowing!

1.  Try a winery! No, no! not as expensive as you think.   You don’t have to waste a dime on decor.  Your decor is all around you!  Natural beauty plays a huge role here especially if you put your ceremony in the middle of a few trees or vines.  Natural landscape is your backdrop at zero dollars.  Enhance it with candle light and you have paid next to nothing for decor elements.  Tie in your theme on your stationery and cake design.  Have a wine bar instead of hard liquor or beer using wines the orchard or winery makes to further save money.  You don’t have to choose a top of the line wine…they make it there! so go with one of their less expensive choices because you know it is fresh, its local, and they want people to buy it!  It heightens the romantic feel and it is very elegant.

2.  Barns are very rustic and can also offer natural landscaping.  It can also provide you with an array of less expensive decor choices such as bails of hay, terra-cotta pots, raffia, and wild flowers.   DIY projects complement this theme very well as it adds to the rustic charm.   Use long rectangular tables for your guests to create an element of intimacy.  Use hanging votives in the trees and dance under the stars.

3.  Golf Clubs or Resorts are a fabulous way to bring some over the top richness for a lot less than you might think.  First, most all of the wait staff is very well seasoned at providing top-notch service, so even if you chose their least expensive package, you’re getting A+ service.  More and more these clubs are offering their rooms and services to non-club members because it generates more revenue.  Their grounds are immaculate and it offers some amazing views for one of a kind photographs.  Their food is delicious and good quality as they have a reputation to uphold.  Use your negotiation skills or get married on a Friday night when they wouldn’t normally book a wedding..  Ask what you can eliminate  to save some money.

4.  Another great location is outside! If you’re in New England where I grew up…beauty is all around you.  In the Fall, the landscapes are spectacular and the golden hues of the trees are breathtaking.  Fall foliage offers a unique opportunity to bring in some romantic color schemes and you can’t put a price on natural beauty.

If you live in Central USA try a national park or a site near the mountains.  Live near the beach, have a beach wedding with the ocean as your decor.  Walk the beach and look for seaweed to line your aisle way and use real seashells on the tables. or a bucket centerpiece using damp sand and wild flowers.

Again, you don’t pay for natural beauty! Put that money into other things.
